M.J. Steenberg is a painter and photographer working from a Toronto Distillery District studio and from the rocks of Newfoundland – her connection with this island began with a Pouch Cove Residency in 1994. Her work explores weather, islands and chaos using raw canvas laid down on the land itself. Her photography is used to document place, process and for the telling of tales.
